The Little Bristol Gift Shop

At Treasures in Time the window nearest Sixth Street is like a Bristol Gift Shop. The new ornaments, postcards, magnets and buttons are in and ready for purchase.

All occasion cards are still on a spring sale....soon to be summer sale. Note cards that are being retired are selling and if you are interested - come in while the selection still remains.

Also I will be bringing back my Bristol Christmas cards for early card shoppers. They will be on sale to make way for new cards.

I will soon offer a final reduction on my framed art consisting of floral and abstract designs. Bristol designs, while not marked down are reasonably priced and available only through Treasures in Time.

The most unique chairs we have ever seen!

You really have to come see these chairs in person! They are over 6 feet tall and have real cowhide on the seat cushions. This one shown in the photo has swords, and other weapons welded into the back supports. They are heavy.. and very unique.
The artistry and integrity of the piece is amazing. If you have a very eclectic home and the space these maybe just what you are looking for!

New ! Exciting! Genuine Stickley Table

Yes, we have acquired a genuine, stamped Stickley table and the cherry on the top of this sweet treat is that it is solid cherry! A really cool feature is that the ends pull out and the extra leaf goes in the end. Much easier than pulling the table apart in the middle. There are two leaves for this table.

Window shopping ... in a whole new way!

please click on image to enlarge.

You know how to window shop don't you? Walk down the sidewalk and peek in the store windows. Well now you can window shop a whole new way.

Walk or drive by our store and you will see things have changed. We have rearranged and have moved the primitives to the opposite window. And we have made room for a "walk around in the window" card shop. You can window shop like you've never done before.

Along with the framed photography and posters from Denise, we also have moved the greeting card stand and have a new postcard rack that will make shopping the postcards so much easier.

The Historical Society items are also available in this area along with a selection of Aromatique products. Speaking of Aromatique, Jeanne brought in a nice selection of new items, including the reeds that soak up the fragrance without having to have a flame burning. Great for those with children and pets that do not want an open flame.

We are bringing in items all the time and that 20% sale is going on now! Don't forget Jerry's great markdowns as well. Come on in and see what is new, or should I say what is old. We have both old and new for the best shopping on State Street.

Back to Normal

Well what ever normal might be, the new vendors are moved in, and there is a little more rearranging to do with some of the vendors you already like to visit.

We are spruced up for springtime, come and see our window with some great vintage patio furniture, and a couple of surprises of the furry variety.

Just on a side note. We ate lunch from Sessions on Wednesday and it was great. Sessions used to be JJ's but now has a new owner and new feel. They are located at
#9 7th St, Bristol TN.
Right around the corner of 7th and State.

Blog, newsletter and discounts

Hello to those who are keeping up with us by the blog. We have made the decision to use the blog for updates for a couple of months, instead of the newsletter. The blog is easily and quickly updated for the most current information.

We are working towards having our website up and running which will include even more information, we will keep you posted.

We are also working towards having signs up to mark each vendor booth, since some customers know the vendor but may not know which booth is their merchandise.

A couple of sales you may want to know about....

30% off in two areas of the store from CB Collectibles, the first 5 shelves on the left side wall (as you come in the store) as well as the same vendors booth, on the right side of the wall, both have signs to mark the sale.

Denise Beverly - DB Visual Arts http://dbvisualarts.blogspot.com/

has left a card at several locations downtown which will entitle you to a 10% discount on any of her cards and artwork, even if they are currently at a sale price.
These look like her business card with the discount info on the back and you can find them at the following locations:
Manna Bagel
CJ and Co.
Blackbird Bakery
JJ's
Serendipity
Eatz
Southeast Culinary & Hospitality College
and Java J's

We are sorry for the lack of updates

Hello this is Denise, I write for the blog site and I have been having massive computer issues. I apologize for no recent updates but that should change starting today.

There is a 30% off sale in the CB Collectibles booth and the 5 shelves on the side wall near the cash and wrap area.

We are going to be receiving a unique item (I will update with photos later today hopefully) It is a 1920's Bush and Lane piano. Not just any piano, this one is a player piano and it has ivory keys. I will update you when it arrives in the store.

DB Visual Arts will be displaying a new line of gallery photos that will be 11x14 in size. They will be Bristol related, most will be printed on the Kodak Metallic papers. They will also have the same frames and matting for creating groupings on your walls.

Spring is coming.. watch for new items to spruce up your home and office.

Again my apologizes for the lapse in posting, hopefully things are in place to begin to post regularly. Thank you for reading, feel free to email us any time.

Shopping by the signs

This week we rearranged the left side wall shelves and added new signs above the sections. This side of the store had not been merchandised since our marathon, relay race to get the store open.

First, we rearranged the left side of the store to widen the aisle beside the wall and give you better access to look around and shop. Then we gathered a wide array of items and grouped them together in these shelves. Not only is this more pleasing to the eye, but you see a variety of like items in various colors and design. This gives you the opportunity to choose what appeals to you as well as possibly seeing a coordinating piece that you would not otherwise see.

Of course, we will still have many items that fit these categories throughout the store and will be changing out merchandise to keep the inventory fresh and exciting. Come visit us and see what we have found for you this week.

What a difference light can make!

Today we added light and life to the front foyer of our store just by replacing the burned out bulbs in the flood lighting. They probably had not been used by any previous owners in a very long time. It really added so much warmth and life to the front. Images are: Owner, Brian Pruitt on the tallest ladder we could find. Notice the top of our front door is 10 inches below his feet. Other shots taken at approx. 7 p.m. allow us to see what a few 60 watts bulbs can do for the curb appeal of the store at night.

Also, take look at the image of the table in the previous post, that is before the lights were turned on. Above is a shot through the front door, the difference is amazing.

(Reflections are from Wachovia Bank across the street.)

Is the family growing? Need a bigger table?

We have been bringing in wonderful items including a remarkable, 12 foot farm table placed in the foyer of the store. It was described today as "mouth watering" by someone who saw it for the first time, imagining a huge turkey right in the center of the table top. It is beautiful and comes with ladderback chairs all around.

New primitives arrived today, and we are off on a treasure hunt, so check back soon for exciting additions to our merchandise.

Thanks for dropping by!

a little paint and elbow grease

Trash to treasure is always something you hear connected to antiques and collectibles. There are primitive styles that have very little restoration done and the fine furniture that is showroom perfect. But, in between there is a little niche that fits the trash to treasure title well.

This little dining set is a project that Denise Beverly is working on to place in the store. Originally a natural wood finish, then painted over several times by who knows how many different people. The set is a married set of Ethan Allen chairs and a table from the 50's. Covered in various stages of completion with white paint, much of the paint was flaking off or peeling.

Denise has stripped the table top and stained it, finishing it off with the Natchez Solution we sell in the store. The skirt and legs of the table and the chairs are painted with a custom mixed green paint that is reminiscent of an old porch in the country. (chair does not have a second coat in this shot) It would be great on a 3 season porch, in a country kitchen or in a small house or apartment where there isn't room for a large farmhouse table.

It should arrive in the store in the third week of January.
